A woman’s home and personal property were completely destroyed after a “resident relative” intentionally set fire to the residence. The relative admitted to the crime and was arrested shortly after setting fire to the home which was located in Columbia, SC.
The property owner filed a fire damage insurance claim for the damages to her home and personal property. According to estimates crated by the insurance company and the homeowner the fire damage exceed $200,000.00. Despite have proper and adequate property insurance the fire claim was denied based on the language of the insurance policy related to “resident relatives.”
